IN FOCUS: WALBERG
In their own words, Walberg have worked their way to the very top of the electric scooter industry, “not by following trends, but by paving the way”. By staying true to this ethos, Walberg has cemented itself not only as a pioneer in urban personal transport, but as a world leader. Their story began in the early 2000’s when a German tour manager named Florian Walberg, realised something that it would take the rest of the world many years to stumble upon. That realisation was that the future of personal transport, was electric, and that it came in the form, of the electric scooter.
Driven by his passionate stance on environmental awareness, and his personal passion for electric scooters, which provided him with a means of covering long distances across sprawling urban landscapes while touring, he set about putting his vision into action. He quickly acquired an extensive amount of technical knowledge and soon enough the first Egret, his flagship model, was made a reality. As his sales quickly jumped from the tens, to the thousands, in 2011 Florian thought it was about time he started his own company, and just like that Walberg was born. Walberg continued to grow exponentially as a result of its forward-thinking ideas, technological advancements, ceaseless attention to detail and focus on collaboration, striking up essential and fruitful partnerships with global brands such as Pirelli, Schaeffler, Honda and Toyota along the way.
Florian has always been a steadfast advocate of the road legalisation of electric scooters, and it’s in no small part down to his tireless work, that European countries have fully adopted road legalisation of e-scooters 1 by 1 (although we’re still waiting on The UK government to do the right thing – big announcement coming on the 10th May!) As Florian sees it, e-scooters are not only a means of securing our independence but are an essential element of establishing a culture of emission free mobility. Products like the Egret and Urban line of e-scooters have played a huge role in pushing the industry forward, owing to Walberg’s high-quality workmanship, and what quickly came to be seen as the undeniable practicality of this burgeoning industry.

Their clever engineering allows the rider to cover a huge range on a single charge, and their stringent quality control practices, make Walberg Electric Scooters not only the most environmentally friendly solution to personal urban transport, but also one of the safest. Today Walberg employs a staff of 30 working across development, production, quality management, sales, branding, services and logistics at their Hamburg premises. Together they work to achieve Florian Walberg’s dream of electrifying the city, as a means of saving the environment. At Walberg, electric scooters are not seen as being part of a trend, but the key element in securing our independence and mobility in an ever-busier world, and looking after that world at the same time.
